History of Hyde Lodge of Royal Ark Mariners - 868 |

The Hyde Royal Ark Mariner Lodge was consecrated on Friday the 17th of March 1972 by members of Mark Lodges from Hyde, Stalybridge and Dukinfield. The Hyde Royal Ark Mariner Lodge is attached to the Hyde Lodge of Mark Master Masons of the same number. The Consecrating Officers led by R.W.Bro. Lt-Col. J. L. B. Leicester-Warren, Provincial Grand Master for Cheshire are listed below. All the founders with the exception of W. Bro. William Chappell R.A.M.G.R. took acting office in the new Lodge. 60 brethren were in attendance with 27 visitors from the Province of Cheshire and surrounding Provinces. It is interesting to see from the consecration expenses schedule that the cost of the meal per head was £1-30p. which from the itemised menu below seems unbelievable. The resident steward at the Oaklands Hall was William Bates. All the food was freshly prepared on the premises. (No brought in warmed up food in those days.) It is worthy of note that many of the members and visitors present on that occasion have achieved high rank, not only in the Mark and RAM Degree, but also in the Craft. As of April 2009 there are 32 active members of the Lodge
